Red face How to replace belt tensioner pully only

The following pertains to a 93 s15 Jimmy 4.3 Vin W auto w/ac.

After working a 12 hour day my serpentine belt broke. I had my wife pick me up a got a new belt but I couldn't figure out how to release the tension on the tensioner assembly. Even though I knew I was risking damage, I pried on the tensioner pully to see where the pivot points were. I eventually figured out how to release the tension by cranking on the bolt on the pully and replaced the belt. But in the process I dented the pully and it is making all kinds of unhappy sounds.

The tensioner assembly was replaced only a couple of years ago. So I would like to replace just the pully and save myself $25, but I can't find any instructions on how to do it. The bolt on the pully is the one used to release the tension and that takes a lot of tork to do and it didn't think about loosening.

It just came to me as I was typing, it is a left handed thread. Duh! I am going to go ahead and post this anyway in case there are others out there that are having a brain fart like I just had. Any other tips that I may not know about?

Re: How to replace belt tensioner pully only

You answered you own question.
If the bolt is left handed then you will have to remove it clockwise.
Good Luck
