Hood CB antenna?

Where does the radio antenna come into the cab at? I'm wanting to mount a permanent CB antenna on the other side of my windshield from the radio antenna, but don't see how to actually install it yet. It is so tight under the dash that I can't see or access anything to find out, and I definitely don't want to drill a hole in my cowl/hood and not be able to wire my antenna. I currently have a magnetic antenna where I want the permanent one at the moment, and I'm happy with this location, but don't want to run that wire through the door jam, and the whole bit. How can I get this CB antenna in the opposing corner of my windshield from my radio antenna, and how is my radio antenna run?

Re: Hood CB antenna?

Have you considered going through your headliner to the back of the cab and out your high mount light??? Then you can keep your magnetic antenna and your Dukes of Hazard look

lol Dukes of Hazard look... That's funny. ...but that isn't where I want the antenna, though. I'm wanting it up front, across from my radio antenna. I also want a permanent installation and not that cheap, magnetic mount I'm using now. I'll use that antenna for other things after that.

Re: Hood CB antenna?

I'd bet that my radio antenna goes just over all the ductwork in my dash, but don't want to drill the hole for my CB antenna only to find out it's within the firewall or something. This shouldn't be that hard to answer.

You can access the radio antenna by going through the fan housing. Just pull the fan and you can reach up and find the antenna coax and follow it to the firewall, and the gromett.

You put your cb coax through the same gromett and fish it into the cab.

Re: Hood CB antenna?

Is there a space between the cab and the firewall? That's actually the big thing I'm trying to figure out. Now I remember, there was some space between my fuse box where I fished out wiring for some fog lights.

No, the front of the cab "is" the firewall. Once you remove the fan, you can reach right through to the grommet in the firewall.
