Excels suck. Basically, Hyundais in general suck!

Especially the riced up ones... too many of these cheap try-hard wannabe racers buzzing around in OZ - all the same; slap-on body-kits, WRX bonnet scoops & loud exhaust systems, and no engine mods or engine accessories.

My old 1981 Toyota Celica RA60 with 350,000+km on the clock (which stopped working 2years ago) would still eat one of these P.O.S. in a drag.

I thought i might aswell be the first to post in here - to get this forum started

What is it with you people hating Hyundai's?? What's so bad about them...??! Is it the looks? Is it the speed? Is it the reputation of the brand? Is it the reputatuion u GET when u drive one?

Ok yes SOME of them "putt putt" around the streets but majority of the time they are old granny's out for a good time down at the local RSL.

Look past the "slow engine" and the "My friend says it stuffs up all the time" and the "aww people who drive them are GAYYY!" and look at the point..it's a car..and it moves you from A...to B....Isnt that what cars are all about??

..Our car doesnt Kill by going 10000000000000000000000000000km a Second and it doesnt do burnouts every minute so those new pair of tyres u just bought was a total and utter waste..but HEY as long as you looked like a cool dude then ur cool!

Me, well personally I don't think I'm a normal "wannabe", I'm a fun loving chick and I think my Excel has potential...after I rip out the interior, rip out the dash board and buy a daihatsu one and after a few weeks of tranforming it, cutting it and adding more fibergalss to it I can fit it into my Excel so it can add to the "different feel" of the car....then i can think of my OWN...UNIQUE bodykit made from a pro not a wannabe bodykit that everyone has, get some nice mags and a whole heap of fluro lights to fit to my car etc etc etc etc etc and then the final finish with be "MY BABE"!!!! and it won't look like a hyundai after Im thru with it.
Maybe I've contradicated myself, I see that the hyundai has hard seats and lacks in torque but I just dont think that u should be so harsh on any car by prejudging it.

I see 81 model celicas looking like boxes with full bodykits on them and Old Excels and just downright shit cars and Im thinking when I pass them by, "WHAT THE...how could they drive such rubbish...but they probably love that car to pieces and think it's the hottest thing on the road and I respect that because everyone has their different opinions...I think its shit..they think it's not..words may hurt but it'll never bring us Hyundai drivers down..

I'm just saying U see WRX's and they think it's hot..but I don't go around on WRXs Sites going WRXXXXXXX SUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! All u WRX drivers out their who see Excel drivers with WRX bonnet things on them..I think u should be proud that they want to be a WRX than an EXCEL because HELLLOOO not everyone out their can afford a 40K car so u gotta improvise every once in a while!

My sister-in-law had a 1996 Excel Sprint. Within the 3year warranty period, just about everything on the car fell off or stopped working - gear box, brakes, hand brake, wipers, radio-cassette player, window winder, air conditoning, indicators, and the list continues... She traded it in before the warranty ran out and got a generous $AU6k for it - She originally paid $AU22k

Well..when car fanatics buy cars they usually convert it totally and rip out heaps of things..original is never the best..and things usually need a bit of work before its good and ready..face it all cars have their problems....and everyone knows taht the gearbox needs to get ripped out and put in a brand new one (better brand) before it's even driven.

I told her she was mad to pay that amount for an Excel - but girlz never listen. But $22k was the original retail price when Excels came out (in Darwin, N.T). It was only like 3 months later that Hyundai dropped their prices to the $13,990 drive-away price. Man! was she spittin chips when that came out

The RA60 was and is my first car. It only has mild budget mods which I put on while I was still at school and didn't have a job. 2¼inch sports exhaust, Genie 4-2-1 extractors,

My brother has it now as he crashed his 93 Celica.

I am the type that favours upgrading a cars performance & handling to dressing it up. But hey that's just me, I like the stealth look - ala very stock

If you are into looks rather than performance and admit that it is all show and no go than that is ok with me. I just laugh at the clowns who put in a huge chrome sports exhaust tip, cut their springs, slip on coloured seat covers, and slap on a bonnet scoop & vents and think their Excel, Lanos, Mirage, or Starlet can take on a WRX... it just so happens that most of these guys drive Excels... in Melbourne anyways.

That's just how I see it.

The Excel of 93 (and ahead) looked ok for its time and came with some convenient features for the price. The car seemed right.
A friend living in front of the beach bought one long time ago and the car went rusty (oxidize) in like less than 2 years. Also, to the car it sounded everything. He trusted Hyundai once again in 1996 buying an Accent GLS and until now he has repaired brakes, suspension, dashboard painting, seats clothes riping off, and I don´t know what else!
