Motor & Transmission Mounts
Guys,
99 Winnie with 3.8 failed inspection due to all three mounts being cracked. They siad there is a right front, right rear, and the transmission mount ? Also, said it's very labor intensive and the labor alone would be $ 480, plus tax. Does this sound high just for the labor ?? Also, I found all the mounts on rockauto.com for $ 80. Anchor Brand, does anybody know if there any good ? If not what is a good Brand ? Thanks, AJ |

Re: Motor & Transmission Mounts
Never replaced Windstar mounts, but I have replace mounts on many other cars. I have had bad luck with aftermarket mounts....especially Anchor brand. Seem to last two years and fail. Now, I only buy OEM mounts.

Re: Motor & Transmission Mounts
Man, I hate to be too skeptical, but I wonder how they detemined they were all (are there 4 of them?) cracked?
I replaced mine at approx 215 kmiles just because they were so accessible while changing out a tranny (the right hand rear one is really "buried".) But I remember most of them being clad in sheet-metal ... you could hardly see much of the rubber elements ... so how do "they" know? I also replaced the sub-frame mounts. All OEM. And it did stiffen up the ride a bit ... but I wonder if really necessary. |

Re: Motor & Transmission Mounts
