Pistons/Rods for a B20VTEC
I'm putting together a B20 VTEC and I was looking at Crower rods with JG pistons. Does anyone have an opinion here. I'm not really partial to anything out there. Also what would you recommend for rod bolts and piston rings.

youre on the right track. im sure those will be fine but choose your compression wisely. and ive never known anyone with JG pistons so i cant give my opinion on those but there alkways is JE. proven over and over again with those. you cant go wrong either way. but i will tell you that spending all that money is not necessary unless youre goin to turbochrge it. if youre not goin to turbo it, dont waste your money on those. keep the stock rods but use type r pistons. much cheaper that way. the rings and rod bolts should come with them

I had just heard that the b20 came with weak rods and there was issues with clearence on the valve when used with certain pistons. I'm using a b18c1 head not a b16 like other people so I have an even higher problem with valve clearence. I'm a bit worried about the domed heads of the Type R pistons and the weakness of the rods in the b20.

1st of all you can always shot peen your rods to make em stronger, and
also type r pistons wont work because b20b/z 's are 84mm pistons and not 81mm (type r). You should try calling JE Pistons, they started to make b20/vtec pistons w/ certain heads so that'll only reduce the piston/valve clearance. Be wise about choosing your compression ratio for pistons. if you are goin turbo and have a b20b then good because of the low compression, but if you have a newer b20 block = b20z2 the compression is higher makin you more towards N/A.
