Stereo Problems 99 Passat Glx

Hello Fellow VW Owners!!!

I just found you guys here, and I see the "veedubmechanic" and his posts, and are very helpful. Kind of reeled me in here.

Recently, I swapped my old crappy battery for a new Yellow-Top Optima 750CCA and as soon as I put in the battery, I tried to re-program the radio out of the SAFE mode. I have ALL of the original books, and paperwork.

Now, the radio doesn't even power up. It says specifically on the paperwork to push power, and safe should appear. I wish I could make it that far......

EVERYTHING else works. I reprogrammed the windows, and I have no problems. Just this darn radio thing. Killin' me!!!!

****NOW IF I CAN'T GET THIS THING TO WORK, HOW DO I GET IT OUT - WITHOUT THE SLIDE KEYS???*********

I have a new head unit to put in, and I just need the harness adaptor, and the mounting bracket. I just have't dove into the dashboard yet. I don't feel like driving a disassembled ride just yet....

Any help you guys could do would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Phil

Re: Stereo Problems 99 Passat Glx

Either
A: go to the dealer and see if they could quick pop out the radio for free

B: buy the radio keys on ebay for 5.00 and pull the radio out

C: remove all the dash trim arround the radio and break lots of stuff but get the radio out...

the fuse on the back of the radio probably blew
