25K maintenance
I have an 06 Outback wagon with 26k miles on it. My wife and I are about to take a 3,000 mile trip. Other than an oil change, is there any other service anyone recommends be done. Tires have been rotated on a routine basis and oil and filter changed every 3k. Also new air filters have been installed. Subaru maintenance schedule has brake fluid and anti-freeze fluid being changed at 30k miles. Is either of these really necessary or am I just making work for my local Subaru dealer? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Also one last question. The brakes are starting to making some (small) noise on application. Should new pads be considered at this point? If so, who is best suited for this job. I have never been a big fan of this car's brakes. They are a little mushy for my taste. But I figure that is a Subaru thing. |

if you look over belts/hoses & fluids,ck tires & pressures you should be ok
as far as maintenence scheule.FLUIDS ARE A MUST.have a safe trip!!! have brakes ck. good possibility they're low causing noise they're original right?? |

yah don't forget your wife lol. and i would atleast check your brakes and if brakes i'd go for acdelco or suburu o.e. pads.are you hearing the warning signal clip rubbing against metal? also you want to check air pressure that the car recomend in your manual. don't put what it calls for on tire go with the manual sometimes it sais on the inside of your door what air pressure because you'll get better gas milage.

Yes the brakes are the originals. Any idea what I can expect a Subie dealer would charge for pads all around? Parts and Labor? I am going to assume the rotors are still good.
One other question I had is my car also idles at a very low rate, maybe 400-500 rpm's. It has never stalled but feels like it close to doing so. Would my dealer check this under warranty as long as I am there on the pads? |

yes a bunch if take it to wrong place where they rob you but onest ones are good and far between.so i might conseder if you got a friend of yours takes his. anyway gessing $150-$200 that is if there onest i counted about $75.00 laber and rest is for pads but try getting o.e. if you have to have them.

Yes it still is under warranty. But I didn't think brakes would be covered. Not sure about the idle issue either.

figure 200 per axle not a warranty item.the stall well after they sell you the tune up,injector clean,ect. & it does'nt help ''but could'' the stall issue will come under warranty.you need to remember that most shops will go the way of regular maintenence 1st.but whats the owner manual state 4 plugs & such it might be early as most state 30k.you can always tell the dealer that

I've never (to my knowledge) seen brakes go bad that fast. Brakes usually last a long time. I don't know what's covered by the regular warranty, but the extended warranty should cover just about everything except maybe the brakes and a clutch if you have one. If you're keeping up with all the scheduled maintenance, I'd just let the dealer worry about all of that. I guess the regular warranty may be close to running out.
