Re: EGR Valve problem
Hi I have a 91 ford f150 and it seems the engine rpms go up when shifting you have to rev the engine to idle it down. Could that also be egr i change idle control sensor.

Re: EGR Valve problem
Go to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto and get a free scan. Then post the codes because it sounds more like a T-P sensor. The EGR normally tends to stall the engine or make it run very rough.

Re: EGR Valve problem
Best bet is to go get you a Haynes repair manual for your truck from the parts store. It'll have directions on how to jump the EEC test port and read your codes using the CEL. Run both key on engine off and key on engine running tests. The repair manual will have the codes , how to read them, and what they mean. It'll tell you how to clear continuous codes (just remove jumper during test).
This is the one I have, which covers your truck as well. http://www.haynes.com/products/year/.../productID/161 Good site here that tells you how as well http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13 More info http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/files/self_test.pdf I just recently got a whole lot of codes and minor problems taken care of using these. Another thing you need to do is make sure all your grounds are good. All the ones from batt to body, to engine block, just any of those ground wires you see. Check them, make sure they're clean and tight. |
