no idle after top side overhaul

I have a specific issue that I havent been able to find in past post.

I had a bad injector on the right back of my 95 villager. Figured if I was going that deep I would go ahead and rework the heads and replaces gaskets and timming belt. Everything went well until final re-assembly. Started right up but would not accelerate, checked out perfect. Then I noticed that in my haste I reversed the plugs for the TP and MAF. After switching back it would not idle but reved perfect. Assumming I damaged the MAF or TP I replaced both.

Still will not idle and blow black smoke on acceleration. ( running very rich ) If I unplug the MAF it idles perfect but obvioulsy stalls on acceleration.

Is it possible I damaged the ECM? Also In researching this I read that the ECM has to re-learn after damage or extended power loss. Any truth to that?

The only thing I havent verified is the stored codes, nobody local has the correct adapter for the data link and I only have OBD2 scanners. I assume this can be checked with a standard jumper wire but Im unsure of the pin location.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: no idle after top side overhaul

Update!!

I found another site that had a post outlining the procedure for pulling codes. I pulled the code and got MAF and Knock Sensor. I cleared the codes and took the van for a drive.

Runs great getting up to speed but when the engine levels off at a certain RPM it starts missing and back to the black smoke. Also, it did not set the light again but I pulled the code again just to see, and it set a MAF code again.

Also something to note, the transmission is shifting way late and it never had this problem prior.

Other than the miss from the bad injector this van ran and idle great before the overhaul.

Is it possible I have a masive intake leak causing the no idle and MAF code? Early on when I got it running I sprayed an entire can of starting fluid in all the gasket areas trying to detect a leak. None noticed.

Am I missing something or could I have fried the ECM?
