Trunk Problem with a '93

Ok so for Christmas last year my dad bought me a used '93 LeBaron Convert. All we had was the Valet Key. So we can't get into the trunk. My grandparents are worried about me leaving my school stuff in the back seat.
I guess I kinda am too. I have to spend 700$ on cosmetology stuff. I'd rather not have it stolen. But because it's a convertable we can't climb under to pop the latch. The lever in the car isn't working, it doesn't grab the latch I guess. HOW IN THE WORLD DO I GET IT OPEN?!

My gpa decided to drill it. We got through but it's still not opening. I'm just a bit distraught.

Somebody help, because I love my little car!

Re: Trunk Problem with a '93

You have to remove the back seat and a panel to get intio the trunk. And the gaps not that big. So I'm guessing the cable is stretched a bit, meanin that you pull it all day long an nowt happens. Hmmmmm .. OK try this. Unhook cable from lever and try to pull it using pliers or a set of mole grips.. Wont matter if you fail cos your gonna need a new cable anyway when you do get trunk open

good luck m8

Re: Trunk Problem with a '93

Umm, I have the same Baron, also convertible and my key doesn't open the trunk as well. I got locked out of the trunk and I dug myself in the back under the back window and popped the trunk form there. You *CAN* do that. There's a thick cardboard piece on the bottom of the convertible top's hole. So with the top up and latched, dig yourself down into the trunk. Now, there are 3 reasons why the trunk popping lever doesn't work.

1. The valet lockout is enabled. There's a little switch on the trunk latch, on the trunk lid, inside, to disable the trunk popping lever. You can dig yourself in the trunk from the back and switch it back.
2. Then trunk's rubber stopping pads are worn out and the trunk no longer "pops," just like mine did. If so, get a friend, and have them pull the trunk up, not hard, just to open it, while you pull the trunk popping lever, and it will open. Then unscrew the rubber pads with a giant phillips head screwdriver to put upward pressure on the trunk lid to make it "pop."
3. Your trunk popping lever cable it broken and you're screwed.

By the way, you could have just gone to any Chrysler dealer, give them your vin number, and they could have cut you the key for your car. But now that you drilled it, you need a lock cylinder at the very least, from a junkyard. Then if you want, you can have a locksmith rekey the cylinder to match your current key, which is the valet key and you should get the regular key anyway. Or you could buy the cylinder and the key from the dealer.
