AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
I'm working on a 02' Olds Intrigue and I have charged the AC system to 1.02kgs and still no cooling pressures are at 200 low and 40 high. Compressor kicks on still no cooling my pressures I believe are way out of range due to the cooling fans are not coming on. I have checked all fuses and relays, I have power at the relays ans fuses but no power to the fans. Looked up the wiring diagram and it looks like it is controlled by the PCM. I'm believing that it here where my power id not being transmitted or ground, the circuit is not being completed anyhow.
Anyone seen this before? Have any ideas?? Other than running my own wires. Thanks, Thomas |

Re: AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
sounds like a bad compressor, if the system is charged up and the compressor is running, but the lines under the hood don't get cold, then the compressor is likely worn out.

Re: AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
That doesnt expalin why my cooling fans arent working. If my compressor was bad my fans would still work.. The compressor is turning pressures might not be correct but its still turning. So my cooling fans should come on with the AC on

Re: AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
Do you have digital climate control? If so is your external temperature reading accurate?
In fact, heres an interesting question, do vehicles without digital climate control still have an ambient temperature sensor? It would make sense if they did. If your sensor is showing a false reading and saying its too cold, the AC wont work.

Re: AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
I am having the same issue. Was thinking it was the PCM as well. Havent' had time to finish working on. If you find a fix. Please post it. I have been trying to figure this out for a while now.....

Re: AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
GM "W" bodies "wait" on discharge pressure to enable the cooling fans- they come on at 175 psi-- so is your pressure transducer on the high side line (below air cleaner) plugged in-- etc
It is designed like this so the fans don't have to run while driving on the highway..

Re: AC cooling issue.. Cooling fans not coming on
Yes, my high pressure switch is plugged in. Thanks though. I'm replacing the AC compressor, reciever drier, and orfice tube.
