Mazdaspeed 3 vs. Legacy GT

Well I got sorta worked. It's my first race in the Lesbaru and I'm thinking it might be my last. The 'ol slushbox is great for Bay Area traffic but not so good for street racing.

My LGT wagon is an '05 limited, bone stock, automatic. The Mazda was an '06 Mazdasoeed 3 hatch, red, aftermarlet wheels, aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket suspension, etc, etc. There's a kart racing place that just opened up in town and I stopped by to check it out. On the way out I see a couple early 20-something guys leaning against the Mazda and pointing at my car. Long story short...after about 5 minutes of friendly chit-chat we agree to line them up. Oh yeah. I've never raced my scoobie before. I bought it like 2 weeks ago to be my daily driver since the wifey is going back to work and needs her FX35 back. So yeah, it's gonna be rough. I figure from a dig I'll be golden but not really. My car jumped off the line pretty well but it bogged a little before hitting stride. The Mazda spun the tires off the line and then took off like a missile, chirping 2nd and 3rd. If I'm being honest maybe 4 or 5 car lengths separated us when I let off at 80mph. Oh well. It was fun and nothing blew up. I gave the guy his props and said not a single word about the Evo in my garage that would ransack his little Mazda. It wouldn't have been appropriate. You run what you brung. Plus he's in a Kart racing league that meets every Wednesday night, so something tells me I might see him again from behind the wheel of a different car.

Haha, nice death.

Thats a clean looking rs, if I bought an evo it would be a white rs for sure. What part of the bay area are you in? Ive never heard of a kart place near here.

Re: Mazdaspeed 3 vs. Legacy GT

I also put my tail between my legs when I see wingless Evos...but me and MZR are a little scarred from a certain evo up here...some words that come to mind for us are 600whp, T-70, 31psi...I'm getting scared again! Lol

Re: Mazdaspeed 3 vs. Legacy GT

Checked around the Speed3 forums I lurk, couldn't find anything in the ones that allow talk of street racing. Good luck in finding him with your Evo.

Unfortunately I don't think I was much of a notch in his belt.

Re: Mazdaspeed 3 vs. Legacy GT

I'm in Livermore, CA. The race/massacre happened next to Lawrence Livermore Lab on Patterson Pass Rd. Everybody around here knows it as "The Lab". They've been doing God knows what for the defense department for 50+ years. We're on the same powergrid as them and, whatever they're doing, folks in our neighborhood can't remember the last time we had a power outage. Nobody wants the radioactive monkeys getting out of their cages.

Re: Mazdaspeed 3 vs. Legacy GT

I'm almost positive then that it is Haltech. Least thats what he goes by on the forums. I don't think your Evo would have to much trouble with his Speed3 at all if it is him. Last time I checked, all he has is pretty much the Cobb bolt ons.
