hardly running sohc VTEC

i was drivin my car last night and i hit the rev limiter in third gear only for a sec or to ,, i thought i had my chiped computer in any way i slowed down after that to find the car was hardly running.. it died shortly after.. so i towed it home... but its still starts it just idles at like 300-400 rpm and if u hit the gas it dies?? i did a compression test ,all is good.. what i was thinkin is the timming belt moved from the jolting of the revlimiter,, could this happen ... and any other idea would help.
