Question Intake Manifold Removal

Hello, i have a 1994 Buick Lesabre that i'm trying to replace the gaskets on. I'm replacing the head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets and i'm having some issues here. The engine is a 3.8L, V6, automatic. I remove everything from the top of the engine, fuel rail, thermostat housing, removed power steering pum, alternator and brackets and anything else that had to be removed to get the intake manifold and heads ready to be removed. I've removed all the bolts from the lower intake manifold, but for some reason the manifold will not come off. I tried prying carefully around the seam that mates with the top of the engine but to no avail. I don't want to put too much pressure on the manifold seeing that it may be aluminum and can crack real easy. Ant suggestions as to what is holding it on or i may have missed some bolts. Thanks

Re: Intake Manifold Removal

All the inside bolts removed from the manifold,? there is one in each corner. Go to autozone.com, repair guides for some info.

Re: Intake Manifold Removal

If its a 1994 as stated.... Does the engine say Tuned Port Injection 3800?

If so, there are no hidden bolts under the upper intake... You will remove a total of 10 bolts from the intake manifold... If all of the hoses and all related items are removed the Manifold should come up... There will be a small bead of Ultra Black holding the corners... Shouldn't be too much of a fight

Jrs3800, you are correct the 95 up has the 2 bolts inside the manifold.

95 was an odd ball year for Gm with the 3800..

The Bonneville, Park Ave, Olds 88 and Olds 98 all used the series II... But for whatever reason the LeSabre was still using the 3800 TPI.. The GM U Vans were also using the 3800 TPI for the 95 Model year..

So for 95 there is a strange mixture of 3800 Series II L36 engines and 3800 Series I TPI L27 engines...

I just want to make sure he has taken out 10 Bolts.. lol.. I too have missed a bolt and wondered why the intake would not come off...LMAO
