Re: caviler 2.4 liter need mega help

remove the top/front engine mount and support the engine with a jackstand and a piece of wood
remove the crankshaft pulley, timing cover, chain and sprockets.
remove the 4 bolts behind each cam sprocket
remove the timing chain housing (you must remove the water pump bolts, so replace the W/P while you're in there)
remove the bolts from the camshaft housings in the reverse order of the tightening sequence
remove the head bolts in the reverse order of the tightening sequence and remove the head

Of course I left out the obvious stuff like P/S pump, fuel rail, manifolds, etc... but you'll figure that part out.

Be sure you don't rotate the engine backwards, as this is an interfecence engine and the timing chain tensioner can allow enough slack to let the valves hit the piston

Its the timing chain, and when your in there, You really should change the water pump. Its a good few hour job.

Not to be a jerk, but i personally would just get another motor. Theres allot of quads out there and for the head ache and price of a rebuild, i'd do another motor and as said do the water pump while it's out.
