Changing fuel filter on 2000 Sportage

Any one know how the line connections to the fuel filter come off? Its in a tough spot to get at too, its between the right front fender and the motor.
Sure got some poor design and engineering under the hood of these vehicles.
Will never buy another one.

Re: Changing fuel filter on 2000 Sportage

I finally figured it out myself. To make room to get your hand on the connectors of the fuel line on the filter, remove the battery. The battery and tray probably needs cleaning anyway. On the connectors there are two ribbed tabs, one on each side, by squeezing them with your thumb and forefinger and pulling them away from the filter, they should come off. When new fuel filter is installed, just slide the connectors back on, give a slight pull to make sure they don't come off, put the battery back, make connections and your Kia should start after turning over a few times. Check for leaks and don't smoke while changing the fuel filter.
