Water Outlet/ Thermostat Housing
about 1 month ago the water outlet on my 96 sunfire gt (2.4l engine) was replaced due to the one that was on there was very brittle and broke into 3 or 4 pieces. just yesterday i noticed a coolant leak from the same location, and the piece was broken in the same place. i was just wondering if it was just a conisidence and i got a bad part in the first place or if there was possibly something i did dumb when replacing it the first time around
thx in advance ~jeff~ ps here is the link to the part that broke http://www.autozone.com/R,2276088/ve...ductDetail.htm |

Re: Water Outlet/ Thermostat Housing
That looks like a composite (plastic) housing, which is pretty fragile, compared to the cast iron/steel housings of old.
I suspect you overtightened the bolt that holds it in place. |

Re: Water Outlet/ Thermostat Housing
Over tightening on those, is a very bad idea like mentioned above bud. A common error with that motor and housing.
