adjustable fpr

hey i just bought an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and have a few questions about adjustng it. ok so the car is a 1990 civic dx. has a d16y8 head and y8 manifold and fuel rail, still using the obd0 injectors with a programed p28 from rywire. just put in a comp cam and completed the full msd ingition. so my question is what is stock operating pressure for this setup, im assuming im going by the stock regulator psi for the rail im using, witch is the y8. do the y8 and a6 operate with the same pressures?
i may be over thinking this, anyways what is the stock pressure. and any ideas as to what i should turn it up to. thanks paul

Re: adjustable fpr

well i figured it out but now my question is how much psi can the stock pump put out, if i run an aftermarket inline pump do you have to remove the old pump in the tank. is the sending unit part of the fuel pump. most stuff i have seen is just the pump so i was getting the questions out of the way before i go buy and lose my fuel gauge. other than that any recomendations as to what pump to buy. thanks, paul

Re: adjustable fpr

I've seen dual pumps running in-line with each other... i.e. in tank pump pushing, then inline pump pushing off the same line... dunno what it does, if it's like sequential boost, or what.

Re: adjustable fpr

The FP should always be whatever the base engine requires as a base setpoint, you adjust from there... you might add or remove fuel pressure to compensate for the cam, same for the bigger TB or manifold.

Problem with setting your fuel pressure is that you can quickly over-run the stock injector's capacity... they can only handle so much before they start blowing internals, and the tolerances in them are less than a hair.

Most of them, you can turn up a bit, like 10 or so lbs, but pressure is like smoking... every added lb takes away some of the life of the injector, and even if you turn it down later (quit smoking) they'll never quite be the same.

Re: adjustable fpr

well the stock psi without the vacuum line on the fpr should be between 38 and 46, thats for the 96 civic that the head and manifold came off. i have been running it for 1 day at 50 and seems to do ok. i am planning on doing injecotrs soon as well and have been wondering what size would work best for this NA setup. also i am still running the obd0 injectors, what size are the stock ones anyway.

Re: adjustable fpr

240CC for all D-series. And most if not all B-series I think.

Re: adjustable fpr

you could use an adjustable FPR to tune AFR's... problem with that, you'll never know exactly what your pressure is, and you can only either tune it at idle, or tune it for the higher end... neither will be 100% accurate.
