1996 thunderbird 4.6 no spark
T-bird was running fine went to start the next morning and turns over. sounded like it was not getting any fuel. I checked fuel rail and it had plently of pressure and fuel. I pulled a plug wire and have no spark. What would cause this to happen? could it be that both coils died or if one dies the other coil will not work ?

Re: 1996 thunderbird 4.6 no spark
Did you have any issues latley with the car, I would check out the crank shaft position sensor. These are normally a issue with no spark since the computer does not know the motor is turning it will not spark

Re: 1996 thunderbird 4.6 no spark
coils can go like that but should run ruff or it might be your cps sensor like he said. but it can be hooked at auto zone to see if it's one of the ciols.

Re: 1996 thunderbird 4.6 no spark
Thanks for the response Guys. the car ran fine untill that day.I tried starting the next day to check the other coil for spark and it started up. Now it idles low and if you put it in gear it dies . If you press the gas it stays running. I changed the Idle Air Control valve thinking that may be my problem but did not help. when it warms up it runs ok bogs down if you give it gas then starts to rev . but cold it will missfire and bogs down. I almost think it a vacuum leak but have not been able to find anything. anyone have any Ideas?
