leak when rains

I got a whole host of problems, I just figured I'd start with this one.

When it rains, a puddle forms on the floor of the passenger side. Its not from the windows - those are closed. I actually saw it once leaking from way under the glove compartment - I had to see lie down to see it.

Someone told me that it could be coming from the tube that lets water drain from up top, where the hood meets the windshield. Is that possible? Does it make sense?

Thanx!

Re: leak when rains

I had a similar leak once. I noticed it after I had replaced the cabin air filter.

If you remove the plastic pieces underneath the windshield, more specifically on the passenger side, there is a big rubber seal that runs underneath the windshield around the blower motor area. That would be the first place I would start.

If that seal is not properly in place, it allows water to run down the windshield and straight into the blower motor area, which is why it ends up in the passenger floorboard.

Re: leak when rains

Does the car have a sunroof? The drains for the sunroof usually run down the pillar and empty out into the door jam. If one of these tubes are cracked or clogged it will dump water out early. Usually resulting in water pouring into the fuse box. I had the same leak on mine. Just to make sure I took a bottle of water and poured it into the sunroof with the door open to see what happened. Sure enough the water drained right into the car. Ended up being a cracked drain tube. If there is no sunroof I would say the above suggestion is correct as this seems to be another common problem for GM.

Re: leak when rains

Thanks for the help. I checked and it might be the seal - I'm gonna have to work on it a little longer.

There is no sunroof, so that's not the problem.

Re: leak when rains

Well, it looks like Hoov was rite. I found the seal and i guess i put it back in the right place because i've already been through 2 torrential downpours and everything is dry!

Thank you very much!
