Lightbulb Gas Mileage

While im still paying over $4 a gallon for gas i was wondering if there were any ways of stealing even a tiny bit more mileage out of my car. Ive replaced the fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve, air filter, oil and oil filter, transmission fluid and filter, checked tire pressure.

Im not talking about changing driving style either but just inexpensive ways to more out of a gallon of gas.

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix 3100 V6 - 118,000 (avg 25 MPG already)

Or maybe some ways for anyone to save a few bucks instead of just for my car.

Re: Gas Mileage

increase tire pressures slightly higher than whats listed inside of your dooor, but dont go all the way to max pressure listed on the tire sidewall. It will make your ride a little harsher, but it could give you an extra mpg.

Re: Gas Mileage

also get rid of any un-necessary weight inside of the car. Meaning them 12" subs have to go.

An alignemnt to make sure you car rolls easily can always help.

Re: Gas Mileage

Apparently a freed up intake and better flowing exhaust system is supposed to help, but most people worry about more power with those mods and I haven't tested for myself...

Re: Gas Mileage

You'd have to save a whole lot of gas to pay for mods to the engine aimed at improving mileage. Let's see--15,000 miles per year, getting 27 mpg instead of 25 would result in using 555 gallons of gas instead of 600 gallons. At $4.00 per gallon, you would save $180 per year. Can't do much to an engine for $180.

Barack Obama's idea of adding air to the tires doesn't cost anything. Only penalty is harsher ride. That might improve gas usage by up to 0.25 mpg.

Re: Gas Mileage

Ok thanks tblake ill try adding extra air can't hurt any im going to need new tires for winter anyways these barely passed inspection . Um no extra weight trunk is empty so is back seat. No subs either hehe at least not for now. When i got the car it had cherry bombs in place of the mufflers so im sure the exhaust is flowing pretty good.

So in the end i guess 25 mpg is going to be fine thanks everybody
