Wink Re: 3sgte?

Toyota put a very capable motor in the GT-S.
It would be wise to stick with your existing motor. Swapping a 3sgte in your car is possible but not without a huge budget, countless labor, trouble shooting, fabrication and not to mention aquiring all the parts. You will need more than a JDM half clip. I went through this on my 1991 Celica ST 1.6. First off I did the intake, headers, custom exhaust. Wow what a difference, not in performance but in being obnoxiously louder. I then attempted to put a 4age silvertop 1.6 in it (+57Hp) . It is of the same family of engines as the existing 4afe 1.6 and mounts right up. However, the cpu, tranny, igniter coil wiring harness were all different. I chose to give the motor away out of frustration. I then contacted phoenixtuning and they said the could drop the silvertop in for $5-6000 or a 3sgte for $8000. Considering I just bought a 1990 Toyota Celica All-trac turbo with 123k miles for only $3700 in San Antonio three weeks ago, I realize how foolish it is to dump money into the ST for performance mods. I am in the process of reverting to a silent muffler and enjoying great mpg in my ST. This is the two thousand dollar lesson my father gave me for free before I started the modification.
Take my advice; save money for a real All-trac, or save more and buy a Supra turbo.
