keep old car or go for '07 PT conv.?

Faced with a dilema, so need some opinions:

I have a 1990 Miata that is in fairly decent shape. Will be needing new spark plugs and wires, alignment, possibly some suspension work soon, needs a bit of touch up on dings and dents, but otherwise it runs fine. Has 75,000 miles on it and put a lot of $$ into it with new roof, tires, radio, radiator, a/c, battery, etc. May also need new wheels soon as originals are chipping and wearing though so far, no air leaks in tires.

The choice is whether to keep the old car or trade for '07 PT Cruiser convertible with 18,300 miles on it. I Carfaxed it and it was a rental car now for sale by Chrysler dealer. The PT has side air bags, so safer than the Miata, better seating position for me, more room but less mpg (Miata averages in city about 28). The PT is still under fact. warranty (3/36) and I do like both cars. I'm trying to decide whether to put more $ into the Miata or just get a newer car and make payments (should be under $200/mo.)? Any comments or recommendations or constructive remarks (please don't slam... been reemed on other forums for asking questions). Thanks!

Well, I have a 2003 PT cruiser, and I like it. It sits higher than the Miata which is a plus. The visability from it is really good. It has alot of pep for it's hefty size. The added room is nice, compaired to a 2 seater. I would recommend going with the PT, but the craftsmanship might be a bit lower than your used to from the Mazda. But, I own a 95 Millena as well, and I think it's better thant the PT with amenities.
