Well i have 92 stealth TT/AWD. That i know has a combustion leak.( head gasket i hope). My question is what are the chances the head is cracked and un repairable. It did over heat bad once. But doesnt smoke that much. And still runs ok.And before i have it all torn down were is a good place to look if i need to replace one or both heads.

Re: What are the chances
Well, how badly did you overheat it and for how long? If it was a very short time then I'm sure you're looking at head gaskets. If not then you probably cracked your heads. Check between the cylinders and water passages for obvious cracks. However, to make sure you will have to take them to be checked. I've heard of places using ultrasounds to look for cracks. Also, you'll want to make sure you haven't warped anything either.

Re: What are the chances
Well I was doing around 100mph for 175 miles noticed steam/looked at gauge it was peged and pulled over instantly. So im not sure how far i went before noticing.
Symtoms are very small amount of white smoke at start up.I drive it around town for weeks/months no water loss no over heating.I take it on the freeway same symtoms. But when i drive it over the mountain pass on the freeway it starts overheating on every climb. And it looses about 1/2 to 1 gallon of water during my 170 mile trip 3 mountain passes. I never let it over heat again i pull over and it cools right down. Ran an engine leek test from napa and it for sure has a combustion leak. Fluid turns piss yellow. second question were can i find a 92 turbo head if i need 1 |

Re: What are the chances
Well, 100MPH for 175 miles?!?!?!?!
Not such a great idea. If you were able to see steam at 100MPH then you've cracked something, I'm pretty sure of it. You will want to pull the heads and make sure that you haven't warped the block as well. I am pretty sure that you're going to find both your heads cracked, but have them check to make sure if you don't see anything obvious. As for getting some new heads check on 3Si in the for sale section. Good luck. |

Re: What are the chances
did you pressure test all you cylinders? if they are all messed up then I would say its your rings.. to test put oil in the cylinder and test it again.. if the pressure goes up then its your rings... if only 1 or 2 are bad then its probably a head gasket..

Re: What are the chances
Well i didnt crack the block. It just came back from the machine shop and crank pistons berrings ect were all in great shape polish hone done.BUT the the head surface was warped so it got a recut. So it needed to be done.As for the heads i have know ideal if i cracked 1 because i just got another set from the start. There fully rebuilt (stock).I should set the long bock+ in tomorrow as long as she opens her legs and makes it easy for me.
