Ground for Trailer Harness

Hey guys, this is a great site and thanks for all the valuble information. My '02 Blazer came factory with a 6 lead trailer harness. I now have a bad ground and was wondering if anyone knows where the ground wire is grounded. I tried to follow it back to the front of truck, but lost it as it's tough without it on hoists. I currently have it grounded to the frame but would like to find the source of the problem. Thanks for al your help!

Re: Ground for Trailer Harness

Is the trailer plug the only thing losing ground?
Grounding it to the frame is the best repair for it.
As that is where most ofthe rear electrical stuff is grounded anyway.
Look at the rear corners of frame for grounds.

Re: Ground for Trailer Harness

Yes, it's the only thing with ground issues. There was nothing at the corners. Do you know where the wires plug into? Is it under the steering wheel in the dash? Thanks for you help.

Re: Ground for Trailer Harness

The trailer plug turn and turn signals go to the fuse box for trailer wiring fuses.

The ground usually goes to the frame.

A all data online sub will show the wiring and fuses and grounds.

If just the trailer round I would just run it to the frame for ground.
Or
You could just trace the ground wire back from trailer plug and see where it is losing ground.
Start at trailer plug and work forward.
A Wiring diagram would help.
Look at wiring on frame wiring from rear to front for damage.
Good luck
