Re: Any IPMS pics yet?

Hi

There are the usual shitty ones on IPMSUSA.org:

http://www.ipmsusa2.org/EventsGaller...tive/page.html

I'm completely underwhelmed by the quality. Why on earth do one place a picture like this on the web:

One thing is that it is out of focus - but the size of the thing for gods sake!? In these days that most of us browse the web on 19 inch flats and larger it will just about fill out the top left corner of the screen...

Have they been captured with a mobile phone? Come on and do better!

And no I'm not there so I can't rectify the situation, but hoping that someone somewhere takes some decent shots with a proper camera.

Thanks for the photos.

You'd think with that many nerds in one place someone would have a decent camera

Re: Any IPMS pics yet?

The quality of the photot's very dissapointing. I do not think that you can blame the camera or photographer. No matter how good the equipment or resolution of the pic, all submissions are scaled down to 640 x 480. At our last IPMS event we set up a photo booth with a clean background and as good a camera/lighting as you would want. Our pics were beautiful, hi-res, 4280x2840. After posting to the IPMS Usa site they were reduced to crap.

Flemming.
I am blind. Can you copy the link for the Best Auto Model so I can laugh too?...

I have heard that IPMS is primarily Military Modelling based.

It is on page 27 top left corner. It is a great model, but a decent gloss finish is always in my eyes a much harder acomplishment than this. I wasn't there so I can't comment on other entries. But I wonder why a model can be judged 'Best auto' when it only placed third in its class ( 539 )?

This one:

Re: Any IPMS pics yet?

No Flemming, it won 1st in it's class....they do it backwards in that slideshow...

As you said, it's a great model of the truck from the old "Beverley Hillbillies" tv show, but there were so many more deserving(IMHO) models there.

Ehhh what??? You mean that the model that wins get a 3 in the file name - no. 2 gets a 2 (hoooray!) and no. 3 gets 1..? I doubt that - sorry. Look at category 600. The "winner" (picture no.3) should then be a 1:144 tiny rocket and no. 3 (picture no. 1) should be a fully detailed big 1:12 Mercury capsule with a lavish presentation. Even with blind judges that can't be correct!

Re: Any IPMS pics yet?

That's really poor judging, so many more deserving models out there.
