Question Vtech head? Hydro tranny?

Will a 2000 SOHC V-tech head fit on my 91 civic hb block? Both are D series? Also will the hydro tranny bolt up?

The head will bolt up but you will need to make a few mods for it to work properly. The trans will bolt to the block but you will need to custom make a transmission mount and bracket for it to bolt to the chassis. Plus you will need a newer clutch kit from the 2000 model to mate to the transmission year since the input shaft on the trans has a different number of splines than a disc on the early 88-91 civics. The head swap would be worthwhile but the trans is more work than it is worth.

i dunno about the head swap part. it never turns out reliable. it's cheaper to drop in and 100% more reliable to go sohc vtec or a dohc zc.

i agree with the trans. way more trouble than it's worth. the best trans to use would be 88-91 Si/EX. i do believe the EX trans (if you can find it MT) has a longer final drive. not much....but if you're picky, its worth looking into.

True true. The head swap can be reliable if done correctly thought. Most people just half ass it. But like Ami said you might be better off investing in a full swap since they are dirt cheap these days.

too damn much. the zc can be found for $500 or less. you can find a 92-95 Si/EX d16z6 for $250-500. i got my 96-00 d16y8 for $500 (with only 12,000 mi. out of '00 EX) my y8 was a killer find. you can generally find them $500-900. as 91ZC said....they are just so damn cheap anymore the mini-me monster isn't worth it.
