I have recently purchased a 1997 Passport - I have a 1997 Rodeo - now a parts vehicle.
I am looking for info on the factory alarm and keyless entry systems. Am I correct in that if there is no black box under drivers seat then there is no keyless entry installed? How do reset the factory alarm system? What is the purpose of the "little red button" on the drivers side kick panel? Can the keyless entry box from the rodeo be installed in the passport? I have been searching the forums for over two weeks now and there seems no info at all on the black box - just info on the remotes. Thanks |

Re: Factory Alarm / Keyless Entry Info Needed

I dont know where they put the alarm box in gen 1.5 rodeos. I do know that at least on 2nd gens if it has factory alarm it has keyless entry. If yours had an after market alarm installed in it they may have disabled the factory alarm and cut some wires to use the power locks with the after market system.

Re: Factory Alarm / Keyless Entry Info Needed
that sounds like its a valet button for an aftermarket alarm, follow the wire thats connected to the button and see if its part of an after market alarm
