4WD question
I'm new to the 4x4. Always had FWD. Anyways I get a back and forth tire squawk when I have the wheel turned near all the way on one side. Works fine straight ahead. I'm assuming transfer case issues, anything else that could cause this?

Re: 4WD question
Need more info. Tire squawk? Only in one direction? Do you feel a jerking in the steering wheel? Tire squawk could be a low tire. Have you checked to be sure your NOT in 4x4 mode?

Re: 4WD question
On the top of the transfer case there is a vacuum switch . If it is stuck front wheels are always engaged. Take it out and check that ball inside moves freely. Also check that there is not oil in vacuum lines.

When It happens I'm almost turned to lock, as in leaving the driveway. I really have to push the gas to make the truck move and then a tire will squawk. I've always drove manual trans in my other cars and it's quite similar to popping the clutch to get a quick squeak but there's not any drive train jerking that you would normally associate with dropping the clutch. It feels just like a random wheel has no weight on the ground and slips if that makes any sense. I does it in reverse or drive but seems to happen more in the rear wheels then the front. In two wheel it corners normal. -Thanks Mark

Re: 4WD question
That's normal in 4wd on dry pavement. It's generally refered to as "corn row hop" or "corn rowing". Just so you know, you should never have the 4wd engaged on dry pavement.

Thanks for the info. I was concerned there was a problem. I just bought the old Blazer. Never had 4WD ever. Since the light doesn't light up i didn't know if it working or not. I thought I had a problem.
