Primer & Paints
Hello there,
Do someone know if tamiya ts spray colors work with revell primer? It will be my first paintjob... so I have no experience! What types of spray colors do you use??? DupliColor, Tamiya, Revell, etc.... What's the best? Thank you! René |

Re: Primer & Paints
If you can get Tamiya TS primer, do so and use it.
Tamiya lacquer is an excellent product, and I would definitely recommend it over anything else.

Re: Primer & Paints
Same here. When have the chance use Tamiya Acrylics Spray Paints. Their ability to dry very fast will help you a lot - something the Sprays from Revell really do not do for you (which makes it harder to avoid dust...)

I always use Tamiya spray-can surface primers under them. Unlike automotive primers, they go on very thin, so they don't cover fine detail. I use the grey primer first - for spotting and fixing problems - and then the white surface prime if my color coat will be red or any light color. All paints are transparent to some degree, so grey primer will deaden any light color you put over it. Except grey, of course!! ![]() Ddms |

Re: Primer & Paints
Both TS and AS are lacquer paints. AS is just another line of paint made for certain aircraft colors. Looking at their airplane models in the Tamiya catalog it seems like those aircraft paints are not very glossy at all. Nothing that clear top coat won't fix.

Re: Primer & Paints
I like Tamiya primer with their spray paints. My other default primer for everything else is Duplicolor, go easy for the first coat, it can craze somme plastics.

Re: Primer & Paints
I really favor the Tamiya aerosol primers as well. They give such a nice finish and the perfect base for your colour coats.
