Re: eXperimental Prototype thread

Also for me time to upload some pics of XP5 which I took at the Nürburgring back in 1995...

And some (with the new interior) a few years later (2003) at the Park-Lane showroom...

Unfortunately through the window but perhaps you like them though.

Excellent pics Roger

Its great, to see old pics like these. Just wish there were a lot more on the web and not tucked away on old 35mm negs.

Re: eXperimental Prototype thread

This is a picture I am very proud on:

It shows Paul Rosche next to XP5 (1995 Nürburgring) ...

Re: eXperimental Prototype thread

That's a great shot Roger. Did you get a chance to talk with him as well?

Here's some additions to this thread - nothing new for most of us, but can't hurt to keep some of these things together in one place.

XP1 being driven by the men behind the F1 project at Silverstone:

An unpainted XP2 & XP3 together:

XP5 at Ehra Lessien for the top speed run in 1998. Note the missing windscreen wiper and the front plate "decal" to aid with the aerodynamics.

If you look closely here you'll see the shut lines taped over around the bonnet and tape over the turn signal lenses as well:

The magic number:

The glamour shot to celebrate:

Re: eXperimental Prototype thread

Yes Erik, I did
He is a really nice guy. He loves to talk about the projects he did in the past.
Unfortunately he was a bit shy in front of my camera - I had to persuade him for this picture very hard...

Re: eXperimental Prototype thread

Well very cool - nice work then.

Here's an article featuring XP3, in keeping with the original theme of this thread. It comes from Wheels Magazine, though I'm not sure at the moment which month and year it was printed.

Re: eXperimental Prototype thread

So where are they all now then?

XP1 was crashed in Namibia by the BMW test driver?

XP2 was the crash test model am I right?

XP3 is in the hands of Gordon Murray?

XP4 is in California?

XP5 is still in the hands of McLaren at the factory?

Another article featuring XP3 - this one from the June 1993 Fast Lane magazine:

And an additional XP3 article - it appears the credit here goes to Carpoint.com.au
