Re: tranny flush Yes Or no?

This is a mixed opinion subject. I will have to give my 2 cents though. I have an 95 wrangler w/ 150K (2.5 ltr auto) and a 89 XJ w/ 160K(4.0ltr, auto). I have flushed both trannys. By this I mean that I myself have done this,(work at a ford dealer) I have noticed that both trannys have all together worked much better than before. The trick is to get the right fluid, and to actually let the flush kit work before flushing the system. After, if you get it done, they flush the system, makesure that they change out the filter too and cleanthe pan.
I would say to go ahead and do it.

Be aware though, this is by no means a fix to other issues, just good preventative maintenance.

No issues, i have 208000 on it , and im not sure they would want to replace the filter since its such a pain in the ass to remove the pan

Be very careful about a flush.

Almost all mechanics sell a flush as a way of maintaining a transmission without having to change the pan or filter. This is not true. As noted above the pan and filter must be removed; the filter replaced and the pan cleaned out properly.
Also, the pan magnet must be cleaned and reinstalled. If its missing, get one put in. Most mechanics simply throw these things away, which is wrong.

I bet your lube guy will only flush for $100 and charge you extra for the pan and filter. IMO if you cannot afford to do both, it is much better to do the pan and filter (decent mencanics will do it for less than $100.) and forgo the flush.

Price is not a factor i had the dealer replace both several yrs back spent $150.00 but it took them nearly 5 hrs to get it done because of the dipstick tube being next to impossible to remove, i warned them ahead of time but they said they could have it done in about an hour or less they ended up dropping the exhaust to get it out
