Angry Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

I have been reading many post that have the same problems that I have had with my 2003 HD silverado.I have had the noise in the steering shaft, the A/C Not cold ,the gauge problems,The reduced engine power p1516 code.Tail gate rattle, and every other problem. I have been a very loyal chevy guy with many new trucks.I guess what I am saying is that, GM is in trouble for the way they don`t care about the people that made them # one. I guess this will be the last Chevy I buy!!!!! Thats my Two Cents!!!!

many have suffered more serious losses and poor response from GM ..

soon GM will be bankrupt and we will no longer have to deal with this company that ignores the failures of it's vehicles..,.

If GM realy wanted to improve their products they would have a department that accepts complaints and has a follow up and service to complete the repair and make the customer satisfied...

its about making the vehicle cheaper and LESS reliable...

I have also a major complaint with how they have TSB on your vehicle, that is kept secret...that you are not made aware of problems that were found in the field ..these problems could cause an accident ...

I go to NHTSA to get what ever I can and these forums to help aquire the info needed to address these issues...

When you call GM for facts they are not very helpfull and as they go down in a ball of flames they deserve it...they caused it ..

Thumbs down Re: Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

Sounds like you guys want GM to fail, if so this is a huge miscalculation of what we need in this country. There are no " secret" TSB's concerning out and out safety issues, as a retired Cadillac field trouble shooter for GM, I can tell you that policy does not exist.

maybe back in the old days this was the policy....today the only notice you get from GM is a mandated NTSHA notice that GM is forced to send to the vehicle owners...to get specifics on the other TSB GM pleads proprietary rights ''infomation...not to be released...''

also I might add the ''recall notice'' is only what NHTSA considers a MAJOR issue , and that if it is only a small percentage it may take many years before this gets out to the effected owners if ever..

OK I'm getting all worked up over this GM stupidity I'm outah here!

Re: Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

maxwedge We do not want G M to go broke, but when you pay close to $40,000 for a vehicle we would like a little attention. I can`t believe G M does not think a throttle pedal with no response is not a safety issue.I will not drive my P U on the road any more.
The other major problem is the gauge issue. The factory finally admits to a stepper motor problem. They will only back the gauge assembly for 70,000 miles. My point is, I live in Ca, and that mileage can be put on in 2 years easy. That is a ridiculous warranty for all the problems people have had.
I am hoping they realize before it is too late and the foreign brands take over!!!!!! I`m done too

j cAt, TSB's by federal mandate must be made available to the public, you can go to a GM dlrship and ask for copies of a TSB that would apply to your truck and the condition you are experiencing and they must be made available, they can charge you for a copy, that policy has not changed. Also there are websites where they are available.

yes you are correct.. I did demand the specifics on a recall TSB for my vehicle in writing, and they did give it to me reluctantly, as they just wanted to give lip service only...the recall as you well know does not state the details of the work and exactly why /what needs to be done..

just states you may be involved in a crash and injuries may result etc....

once again if GM and the other big??? three US manufacturers want to do better at making money they best start with treating the owners with cronic problems in a better way ....soon It is expected that GM will ask the federal goverment for a bail out then It'll be interesting how all the dissatisfied big three vehicle owners past and present react!!!!

Re: Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

How many times has this subject been up here? I you want a fullsize truck these days your screwed. Ford either blows out spark plugs or eats them, dodge trans and rear ends blow up, and toyota frames rot out. So what you are looking at is nissan and I havent worked on any.

Now on customer support there are probs that need attention from GM but if we lose another big company were gonna be even worse off than we are now.

when ever you are looking for a new vehicle you must do your homework and find out all the problems with the model your interested in ..

these forums, and NHTSA have alot of this to help you decide which defective vehicle has the least amount of defects and upon receiving the vehicle attack the defect areas...

I have used this in the past before the internet was invented I would ask my relative [auto mechanic shop owner] which vehicle he recommended and what I had to do to prevent any problems because of the vehicles defective design,, as a result I successfully screwed GM out of a lot of unnecessary costs to me...

Re: Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

The real problem here is not that one truck is better than another, but that, GM is turning it`s back on loyal customers.

this is exactly the point.. GM has lost loyal customers...I have been one since 1967...my first vehicle...

I have noticed over the last 10years a rapid decline in service quality, and respose to defects..my own and many others.. I also know of many that stated they will NEVER buy a GM vehicle again...because of the way they were treated , and made as to be responsible for the defect....I'm sure you all know what I'm saying here..

They have a regional GM warrantee manager , and it's his job to figure a way out to screw you!!!!

Re: Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

My 06' silverado will be my last gm product as well,I have always had a gm product in my driveway and currently have 2.My 02 trailblazer and silverado have been back to the dealer to many times to count , because of fit and finish problems along with a host of mechanical issues.

Re: Disapointed in chevy quality and factory backing

Well I must start off saying that I love my 02' Silverado and its never let me down to date. It has over 150k on it and I've replaced the battery and a rear diff seal. The check engine light as never been on once. I ALWAYS keep up with the maintenance for the truck. I suspect that's the problem many times with trucks that have chronic problems(other than factory defects of course). I work for dealership(non-GM) and work at a parts store part time. So I get to see a wide variety of problems and cars. I've worked parts for many years and I rarely have to check engine codes on GM trucks. Ford and Dodge trucks are riddled with problems such as: numerous EGR valve and sensor problems, DPFE, 02 sensors, misfires, Coils, etc. Ford powertrains are the most problematic by far IMO based on experience.

However, GM does need to do a much better job at the customer service game. Their in no position to be turning their backs on customers.
