Dynaride Suspension

We were wondering just exactly what the Dynaride suspension system is?? Anyone know this? Not looking for general information we are having a vibration problem and the ride has gotten stiff. We would like to know techinically what the system is and does if anyone has that info it would be greatly appreciated. We are thinking this could be a suspension issue or a drive shaft issue.

“Dynaride” is nothing unique and does not identify any kind of special ride system. It is a very old Buick marketing ploy, adopted years ago (after WWII) to promote the special (floating) ride quality of their products. The only way to identify your suspension package is by using Service Parts Identification (SPID) label.

You can check the three-digit suspension code for your suspension, which will identify exactly what suspension option(s) it came with from the factory. The code will start with an “F” on your Service Parts Identification (SPID) label. In addition, look for V92 (trailer towing package). If you have a sedan, the SPID label is on the underside of the trunk lid, on the left side. Some typical suspension packages are shown below:

FE1 Suspension System, Soft Ride (standard RM)
FE2 Suspension System, Ride Handling
FE3 Suspension System, Sport
FE7 Suspension, Front and Rear Heavy Duty
F40 Suspension System, Heavy Duty Front and Rear
F41 Suspension System, Front, Rear, Firm Ride, Handling
V92 Trailer Towing Package or, (Provision)

BTW, disregard FE9, it is an emissions code and it does not compute as a suspension code.

Thank you so much for the information. We have the 1996 1/2 Buick Roadmaster. We replaced the u joints and think this has solved the problem but the car has lots of miles and seems like at this point we can't drive 200 miles without another issue popping up. We love the car. So this may or may not be solved as many times before we thought we fixed the problem only to drive it and the problem returns.
