96 v6 bird wont start update

My earlier post descrided how my 96 v6 bird wonuld not start and that power windows and radio also did not work. Well after pulling the BCM out and tapping on it I had the radio and windows come to life. But the car still wouldn't start. It will crank but not fire. Fuel pump does not seem to be getting power. I replaced the fuel pump relay ($24 ridiculous) and it still wouldnt start. I checked for signal out of BCM to PCM and the 2.75volts was there. The was not an ouput voltage (pin 8 C1 connector @PCM) to the fuel pump relay. I checked for ground going to PCM and it looks good. Could my PCM be bad? Or is there something else to check?

Re: 96 v6 bird wont start update

So you have no feed coming out of the computer to the Fuel pump correct?
Take a Jumper wire and Give that circuit power and see if itll start and then you need to trace the circuit back to where the pcm is getting signals / grounds from. As well if the Fuel pump relay does go bad the oil pressure switch is a parallel circuit with this and it will kick the fuel pump on once it saw oil pressure.

Re: 96 v6 bird wont start update

I found a short at connector at BCM and took care of the radio and power lock issue.
I checked output signal from BCM to PCM for Fuel Pump Relay and its is going into the PCM but the outfrom the PCM to the Fuel Pump Relay is not there.
I checked the grounds and positve feeds to the PCM and theu seem fine.
I also jumped out the fuel pump relay and I heard gurgling which seemed to be coming from the radiator!!! I checked fore any pressure at the Shrader valve on ther fuel rail and nothing at all. Noair, no fuel no nothing!
I think I may have a dead fuel pump and possibly a junk PCM.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm going nuts for almost 2 weeks now!

Re: 96 v6 bird wont start update

is there any way to send 12v isolated to the fuel pump.
that way if you hear it run...you know it's more than likely electrical than mechanical....just a thought.
I'd try jumping the pump.
but I'd make sure I had isolated the wires first.
don't want to send voltage anywhere else...that could fry something.

also check for poor or decayed solder joints in the bcm.

doesn't hurt to touch up some suspect connections....just make sure it's not plugged up when you do.

Re: 96 v6 bird wont start update

Well I was testing a relay connection that wasnt the fuel pump.
I finally found the fuel pump relay and checked for signal at key on position.
I got +11.5 volts for just under 2 sec.
I then jumped then connector to fire the fuel pump manually and nothing.
It looks like I have to replace the fuel pump.
I'm hoping that maybe since pump doesn't build pressuere in 2sec the PCM shuts down signal to the relay. I will check that after I put pump in. I'm going for the trap door method. I hope I dont cut any lines or the tank. I'll post back after fuel pump swap.
