05 Grand Prix

Is there a common problem area on the Grand Prix for a code P0455. Already has a new gas cap. Thanks

Re: 05 Grand Prix

Classfiied as a large leak in the evaporative emissions system. That particular DTC is not really a common problem on '97-'03 or '04 and up Grand Prixs.

Re: 05 Grand Prix

Which means it will likely be covered under warranty (many emissions parts are covered under warranty for 7+ years). I have an '05 as well (GT). Check your owner's manual and see if there's a supplement stuck in there regarding warranties.

I just got mine out of the car. It's 2 half-sheets of paper. On one sheet it says that On-Star isn't under warranty basically. On the other, it replaces the part on Page 18 under the Emission Warranty Parts List.

"Emission Warranty Parts List

The emission parts listed here are covered under the Emission Control System Warranty. The terms are explained previously in this section under the "Federal Emission Control System Warranty" and the "California Emission Control System Warranty".

Important: Certain parts may be covered beyond these warranties if shown with the asterisk(s) as follows:

- (*) 7 years/70,000 miles or Super Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) with emissions RPO code (NU3) 8 years/100,000 miles whichever comes first, California Emission Control System Warranty coverage.

- (**) 8 years/80,000 miles, whichever comes first, Federal Emission Control System Warranty coverage. (Also applies to California certified light duty and medium duty vehicles.)"

So go to page 18 in the manual and see which parts are excluded, because there's a decent chance whatever went wrong is covered under warranty.

Re: 05 Grand Prix

The car has 85K on it, checked all the connections and plastic tubing and found no problems. Is there a way to test the canister?
