hello, i have a 2000 sunfire 2.2l. the 1st problem is when i acelerate from a red light sometines the front of the car feel like it bounces. whats could this be , i feel no viberation at all whan driving on highway or anything and the 2nd thing is how hard to do a transmission fluid change and change the filter. thanks

Sunfire engines do feel "bouncy", make sure you check the engine struts. It's probobably trying to break free. I would do a full tune up as well, with platinum plugs that might make a difference.

Does it feel like bounce up and down or could it be a wobble back and forth. If so you could also have a tire going bad. When a belt starts to separate internally it will give you a little wobble. On late 80's early 90's chrysler minivans would have a similar issue which came from inner cv joints. Just other options for you to check. Good luck.

what do you mean when you said "" When a belt starts to separate internally it will give you a little wobble "" and i just had 4 new tires put on because i thought that was the problem too. it bounces on hard accelration.

Yea can you be more descriptive with this bounce? Does it feel like the car is squatting in the rear and front is lifting up a bit, and then bounces?

Could be bad struts, motor mount, tires...

As far as the transmission flush, on the 4t40e tranny is probably a 5 out of a 10. I don't remember the exact count of bolts in the pan to remove, but jack the car up or put it on wheel ramps. Secure vehicle. Start remove the screws from the rear portion of the trans and work your way forwards to the front of the pan cover. Also have a catch pan below, and big and wide one. The fluid will start seeping out from the back and just let it all drain out.

The transmission filter is "stuck" inside the housing, so you need to pop and pry out the old rubber o-ring sucker. Just look at the new filter and you'll see what needs to come out, and goes back in place.

Also, DO NOT use the new cheap rubber gasket they supply. GM made the transmission gasket to be re-usable in this trans (if there is no damage to it), as you'll note the metal support in it. If the gasket is torn or broken, if and only then use the new "el cheapo" rubber one. Re-install the bolts opposing one another, as you would do a HG.

You need to check the engine alignment or the inner joints. You need to have the vehicle in the air and run it. If you hold the brake slightly this will put a load on the vehicle under acceleration. If you can get it to repeat symptoms in the air you can find the problem. You can take the vehicle to Midas, Monroe, etc for a free inspection. They will run it on the lift. Pay special attention to the inner cv joints to see if one of them wobbles. Thanks Ken

i just had 4 new tires put on because i thought it was hat. i recently did my front breaks . the car bounces in the frone when i try to take off fast but the rpm still goes up but it bounces harder and harder till t take my foot off or it catches on good ground. how do i check the motor mounts and where are they.

If a tire/brake or strut shop near you does a free underneath check I would take advantage. It could be anything, mount, stabilizer bar.

ok, i just noticed that when it is in "D" it bounces, but when i have it in "3" it does not bounce, . someone tole me to check the transmission mount, is there souch a thing and if so where and where are all the other mounts so i can check them out too.
