Transmission woes

I have a 98 concorde with a 3.2 L engine. I very recently replaced the engine a month ago. Now the transmission will not get out of 2nd gear. I called several transmissions shops and they tell me that it needs to be rebuilt or replace. Is this true

Re: Transmission woes

No it is not,the 1998 and up transmissions do not go out and those transmision shops you called are full of BS.The transmissions sit on the shelf at most yards.Does the service engine light come on?Check the condition of the fluid too, should be pink and not smell. It could be one of the speed sensors going out and that is only common problem with those transmissions.Make sure the speedometer works,it has to work when shifting it.Get it scaned for codes first.I have never seen a 1998 and up transmission go out.Another thing, use the recomended Mopar ATF+4 fluid only. Most parts stores now sell it instead of going to the dealer for it.I know Carquest is one that sells it

Re: Transmission woes

Thank You for your information. The car (Lulu) has an appointment at the local dealership Monday to have the sensors, transmission screen/filter to be changed. I now believe when I took the car for the engine replacement that they put the wrong transmission fluid in Lulu. Again thank you for your help

Re: Transmission woes

I'm sure I've seen a bulletin from Chrysler for atf+5.... ask about it, I have it in my '94 and it works great.
Cheers
