Odometer and driver info out??

I have a 2002 Venture that the odometer shows up when I first start the car but it fades to dark within a couple of seconds. The driver info module on the roof never lights up at all now.

This just started today. Any ideas on fixing this?? Or where to start for diagnosis?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Odometer and driver info out??

2000 Venture here with exactly the same problem. I was not the driver when they died, so I have no idea if there was a clue to be had at the time. I'm told no, of course. All fuses check good.

Suggestions, please?

Re: Odometer and driver info out??

I figured out that it only happened when the headlights were on. I found that the interior dimmer had been turned down to dark. Once I rotated the dimmer wheel to the right to brighten it the problem was solved. I hope this is the same solution for you. Please let me know if so - that way I don't feel so dumb for the problem in the first place.

Re: Odometer and driver info out??

Holy cow, do I feel like an idiot! Well, that was a cheap fix! Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Like I said, I wasn't the driver (nor in the van) at the time.

At least the solution is posted now, so the next guy won't have to let the whole world know how dumb he is! Thanks again.
