Rear wheels rusted to break drums

This 95 is something else.
I've had 63 fairlane , 62 falcon, 57 chevy, 72 ford truck. And still have a 91 chev trk I bought new.
And never had the rear wheels so hard to get off.
Glad I don't have a flat on the side of the road somewhere.
I've tried everything except a torch. Is that what I need ,heat up around the hub?

Re: Rear wheels rusted to break drums

Use a little penetrating oil around the center hub (this is where they get stuck)...let it sit over night, & then jack the car up & start beating from the inside out, rotating the wheel 1/4 turn or so every whack. Try not to dent the rim too bad. Heat MAY help, but it never worked for me...

Re: Rear wheels rusted to break drums

I had that issue with a front wheel. I was swinging a 10 pound sledge from the inside while it was on the lift. I saw rust falling in chunks and noticed the entire control arm mount was breaking apart because I was hitting it so hard. I recently fixed the frame, but that freakin' wheel was the worst EVER! I am a mechanic by trade and NEVER had one that tight.

I had to use an air hammer with a blunt end and hammer in between the lugnut studs to get it to break free. Be sure to put some Neversieze on there when done.

I've had luck kicking them off in the past. Put the lug nuts back on about halfway, let the car back down on the tires, drive it up and down your driveway a few feet.
