Overdrive for Metro
Does anybody know if there is a change-up to replace the 5th gear with an overdrive gear? I've checked a couple of the web suppliers but all they seem to be interested in is the big Dodge and Chev trucks.

Re: Overdrive for Metro
If you don't find that gear (good luck), get a trans out of a 4 banger metro or swift...much better hwy. ratio. Also, the XFI trans has a similar ratio, but they're getting hard to find.

Re: Overdrive for Metro
Both my Metros are four cylinder. The transmissions in both have the same gearing. I was looking for a top end gear that would have a .78:1 (or similar) instead of the 1:1.
Did any of the Metro family come from factory with o/d? I was thinking maybe I'll just swap out transmissions. |

Re: Overdrive for Metro
As far as I know, the 5th gear ratio for the Metro (and Sprint and Swift) should be 0.76:1.

Re: Overdrive for Metro
Both fourth and fifth are overdrives. There are four or five different final drive ratios available from the factory.
