Clanging Rattling Noise From Rear

I have a 2003 F250 SD 4x4 with 5.4 engine 37000 miles. I really baby the truck.:banghead Once in a while I'll hear a clanging rattling noice coming from the rear. I can't figure out where it's coming from. I thought maybe the U- Joint bearings were dry so I sprayed them down with PB Blaster. It didn't help. All the U joints are tight with no play. It sounds like its a rotating metalic clanging rattle sound when it happens. Kinda like a rock in your hub cap sound. I have aluminum wheels and swapped them off with another set I have but it didn't cure it.
I did a visual check of the rear brakes and they looked ok. I may need to pull the calipers off of the rotor next. Has anyone experienced this?

you might have the clutch pack in the rear end checked i got a 02 that did the same thing when i turned mainly and if its the clutchs your limited slip will not work

Oddly enough, have you looked at your heatshields on the back end of your exhaust? I just had to replace one of the bands on the heatshield on the exhaust... made that noise of what you are describing.
