bypassing the fuel pump....

The relay blew out again! My buddy has a zrx1100 and it has no fuel pump. He told me to bypass the fuel pump and that the only negative is that my float bowls may not be adjusted for that but to give it a shot. The only thing I can think of that is causing the relays to blow out is the new fuel filter that is way smaller than the stock one so maybe causing the pump to work harder thus shorting the relay or the pump itself going bad and shorting out the relay. Doubt its exposed wiring. Any ideas?

Re: bypassing the fuel pump....

I believe the fuel tank is under the seat below the carb level on a ZX-11 (as the part between the seat and handlebars is actually the air intake). If that is the case, it can't run without a pump. The ZRX-1100 is a semi-naked standard and the fuel tank is up high where it normally is so the carbs are gravity fed, thus not requiring a fuel pump.

Re: bypassing the fuel pump....

Makes sense. It didn't work so I can see why.
