i have a 2000 ls sport and am replaceing the clockspring took it all apart except for the plugs on the clockspring top and bottom is there a special way that the plugs come out or will the new one come with the wireing harness i just orderd it but i wanted to get it apart before the new one showed up thanks

I successfully changed the clockspring on my 2002 ls v8. If its the same set up as yours it comes as two units pre connected by its own harness. The upper unit installs behind the airbag and the lower unit is a rectangular box that installs at the bottom of the steering column. Remove the lower trim panel to get to the lower unit.

There was three (maybe four) plugs on the left side of the lower unit. Two of the plugs are exactly the same so before you unplug them it may be a good idea to mark the forward one. They unplug like any other locking electrical connector (.i.e. press the button in the middle of the plug then pull it off). If you need an example see the MAF sensor connector since its clearly visible from all sides.

Those plugs (on the lower part of clockspring) arent very long and there is very little room to work under there so you may need to exercise a little patience. The cruise control and radio plugs are on the upper part of the unit and are self explanitory.

I usually get the new part and make sure they match up before I start taking stuff apart. Having the new part gives you a good refrence. See the 'Clock Spring Replacement' post (the first one) for additional information that may help.

ok replaced the clockspring and got my cruise back but the air bag light still is flashing 3 then 6 what eles can i look for thanks

There are at least 4 discrete issues that all yield a LFC of 36, and they all relate to the driver's airbag. To get better resolution on which issue the system has detected, you'll need to have the system scanned by a professional scan tool capable of monitoring the Airbag system.
