New Compressor not cooling when ideling!!

Had a mechanic friend install a new compressor in my 96 Tahoe and after about 2 weeks ive noticed that when i stop, it doesnt cool. It feels like just the warm exterior air is coming in. Then when i get up to speed, it gets ice cold again. Any one know whats happenning?

Re: New Compressor not cooling when ideling!!

Shodid...I have an 96 tahoe as well...sounds like u have moisture in ur system or ur orfice tube is stopped up...I just replace my compressor as well..i also replace the drier and the orfice tube..my orfice tube was kinda hard to get to because it was behind the grill other than dat...al'yea i got my system vaccume as well at my job and it blows great!! i dont have rear a/c so it takes a while to cool off!! i only needed 3 12oz cans and 8oz of oil!!

I agree with shodid your friend most likely did not put your system on vacuum pump .. with compressor change minimum 1hour at max vacuum..this will remove all mositure from compressor oil..

now you must remove charge and vac. down system and recharge...HOPEFULLY your system is not damaged...by this...
