Price vs. Reliability

So here is the issue I faced when I bought my car. To buy a used car from a person and save some money, or to buy a certified pre owned from a dealer for a little more and get a warrenty and a sense of certainty. I went with the dealer and chose to spend a little more money for the insurance. What would you have done?

Re: Price vs. Reliability

I had the same issue when I bought my last car. I did the same thing you did and went with the warranty. After the purchase I really regretted my decision until the problems arose. The warranty ended up paying for itself twice. I would say that does not happen on most cars thought. I would imagine there are a lot of people who spend all the money and never even need it until it expires.

Yea that would really stink, paying extra for a used car from a dealer, then not havin a problem until your warrenty expired! I wonder on average the money saved on buying from private is worth problems from a dealer. Cmon dateline, do a study! lol
