Tripod joint question
I understand this to be a part of the axle or the joint that holds the axle/halfshaft in the transmission. I can't find it as a separate part from places like rockauto.com. If I buy a reman halfshaft is that a part of it? Will I ultimately need to replace the tripod joint by itself? I had a GM dealer diagnose it and he didn't elaborate. Anybody have an exploded diagram of it?
Thanks!

Re: Tripod joint question
Never even heard of it myself. First thing I thought of was that you were describing the CV joint, but sounds like youre looking for something on the other end of that apparatus.
What is the problem youre having anyway?

Re: Tripod joint question
Generally speaking, the tripod joint is part of the half-shaft assembly, and would be included with a reman half-shaft. Tripod joint is just another name for the CV joint, albeit a little difference design wise from a CV. It works the same way.

Re: Tripod joint question
Well I learned something new, Id never heard that term before.
At first I thought it was probably located just to the right of the exhaust bearings right underneath the blinker fluid reservoir. But now I know for sure.
