ABS Sensor issues

Hello all-
My 2000 Intrigue has the ABS, SVS and Trac Off lights on. A check at the dealership showed codes C0045 and C0245, the diagnosis was a failed left rear ABS Speed sensor.

They want 588.93 to replace it, the part is about 50.00 from Rockauto.

Anybody had this problem or done this job? I've replaced both front hubs and am not shy about tearing into a project. Just looking for some pointers/advice.

Thnx-

Re: ABS Sensor issues

If the sensor isn't built into the hubs on the rear it should be fairly easy swap(I've never done it). Rockauto should take an electronic return as long as it wasn't installed if that isn't the case.

I read somewhere else to check the wiring harness back from the sensor to where its plugged in the front. Theirs was frayed.

Obviously make sure you have enough air in the tires and assuming the tires are the right size/diameter.

Re: ABS Sensor issues

Should be pretty easy, I believe the sensor is built into the hub the same way the front one is.

Back will probably be easier than the front because theres no axle shaft to deal with, theres also a bit more room to work back there.

Re: ABS Sensor issues

My anti lock is still on but I have a old hub bearing still from the FR. Can I be able to clip it in to the car's other hubs to test for failures and diagnos the problem

Re: ABS Sensor issues

I purchased a pair of rear hubs from Rockauto and expect them to arrive sometime this week. The hubs are about 100.00 each (the speed sensors alone were listed at (50.00). I've been putting off strut replacement as well and ordered KYB GR-2's for all 4 corners.

We've owned the car since it was new and have really enjoyed it. Some would replace it, I'll put a little more TLC into it and keep it on the road.
