94 Trans Sport code retrieval problem

From my understanding on OBD I connectors I jump terminals A & B to bring up codes. The problem is that the only terminals that have wires are A(top right), M (just under A), and K (third to the left of M). Has someone removed terminals from the aldl? I can't find any loose wires. How can I pull codes to see why the SES light is on. When the van is first started it surges a little at idle and on acceleration. But after is runs for a minute warming up, then seems to run fine. I would appreciate any help possible. Thanks Ken

Re: 94 Trans Sport code retrieval problem

'94/95 is known as OBD1 1/2 and you cannot flash codes. THis is still an OBD1 but it shows OBD2 codes and it needs a special scanner.
An interface to link it to a PC is available to be used with free available software; several have done it and nicke66 on this forum is the specialist on this issue. I have 2 interface wires but have not done it yet, probably because my portable PC system is sick and does not see the link...I have yet to try it with a desktop PC --somewhat cumbersome -- but since I have no problems at this time, I do not see the urge to go for it....

From your decription opf problem, I would first check the throttle position sensor...a common problem with these symptoms. It would likely inhibit 4th gear, TCC and cruise. ..but it would then not be any better once hot....anyway...

Re: 94 Trans Sport code retrieval problem

Thanks guys, I haven't been able to mess with it yet but I will in the next couple days. I suspected the tps. Will I have to have the scanner to adjust it or anything? Thanks I greatly appreciate all your help/input so far.

No you will not need a scanner to adjust it... The TPS on the 94-95 is non adjustable

Re: 94 Trans Sport code retrieval problem

I went ahead and replaced the tps , didn't change anything. I was able to pull the codes and I get 112(IAT sensor low) & 1670(QDm 4 error). The only time I have a problem is first few minutes when started cold. It surges at idle and when I request acceleration it won't unles I push pedal slowly. But after a few minutes it runs great. If I shut it off and start it right back up, still runs great. With engine temp at 186 and the koeo the iat read 91. When I started the van the Iat went down to 21 at idle, after revving the engine the Iat read 17 at idle, it actually went as low as 14 and then came up to 17. By the way I'm using a Mac Mentor (Otc monitor 4000). Do you think r/r the iat will fix the 1670 code? or is the 1670 causing the iat (112) code? I greatly appreciate all your help. This is a great website and I'm telling everyone about everything on this site. Thanks alot

Re: 94 Trans Sport code retrieval problem

Ok I had a brain fart. The IAT will code if not plugged in. Everything plugged in and scanned, I'm getting 1640(Qdm1) and 1670(Qdm4). Don't know where to go from here. Appreciate any help possible. Thanks

What the PCM is seeing is a Problem with an item on that circuit... You need to figure out whats on those circuits and check those items on those circuits to determine what item is causing the issue...

Do you have access to a service manual?
