Dual climate control conversion???
hey everyone...its been a while, but i had a quick question. i think i know the answer, however i will ask anyways.
how hard would it be to do a dual climate control conversion on my '98 GT? i have every available option in my GT except dual climate control. i guy on the Wisconsin club grand prix club is parting out a '98 GTP that he wrecked. i am going down to his house tomorrow and am buying a few things off the car. i got to thinking...and his GTP has dual climate control. i was thinking about buying it and trying to put it in my GT. i know that the sensor for the outside temp runs somewhere behind the front bumper, I'm not so worried about that working for the time being. I'm just wondering if it would actually work? thanks for the advise in advance

![]() Forget it. Exercise in futility. Everyone that has posted this question was given the same answer and I am batting 100%. I don't know of anyone that did the conversion successfully or even tried it after doing a thorough investigation. But if you can do it more power to you and I'd like to see it to believe it. The sensor up front is the ambient temperature sensor. However, there is one located behind the climate control head unit for internal cabin temperature since the dual climate control system for '98 was the CJ2 auto/digital unit - ACC. You'll probably need to pull the complete dash wiring harness from the donor car along with the complete upper and lower evaporator cases in the dash. Or do some serious adding/deleting/grafting of wiring for control and power distribution. The C60 single manual climate control unit doesn't have the same electrical connectors and harness run. Also, the CJ2 ACC uses the Class 2 serial data bus for diagnostics and HVAC system monitoring. Plus you will need the second temperature actuator and supporting wiring. The blower motors are different so you will need that and the blower motor control module versus the blower motor resistor.

One last thing to add, the dual climate control isn't as cool as you'd think. My car has it and I'm not impressed. I haven't had any issues with it, but it never seems to get warm or cold enough when in automatic mode, and adjustments are a PITA while on the road as the buttons are not set up very well.

hope this isnt to late to chime in...
i been contemplating doing this with my 96 oldsmobile cutlass supreme coupe i found a control unit (it doesnt say dual) on ebay thats supposed to be from the same year 96 cutlass supreme so im wondering what it takes to do it.. do i have to change all those parts if its not dual climate control? i just want buttons instead of knobs cuz mine keep breaking off
